HOMESCHOOL AND CYBER SCHOOL FAMILIES IN PA

A Pennsylvania homeschool evaluator who’s on your side.

I help Pennsylvania families homeschool with confidence, from the August affidavit to the June 30 evaluation.

I’m a Pennsylvania certified elementary and special education teacher with almost 20 years in classrooms, including six years supporting students and teachers in a cyber charter school. I work with families in person and virtually.

EVALUATIONS FOR ELEMENTARY (K-6) AND SPECIAL EDUCATION (K-12)

In person or virtual, anywhere in Pennsylvania.

HOW I HELP FAMILIES

Support for every part of the homeschool year.

Homeschool evaluations

Your end-of-year evaluation, done kindly and thoroughly. I review your portfolio, talk with your child, and write the letter you send to your superintendent by June 30.

Special education program approval

If your child needs special education, Pennsylvania requires a certified special education teacher to approve your program before you file your affidavit. I’ll review your plan, help you shape it, and provide the written approval.

Curriculum planning

Help choosing curriculum, writing the objectives for your affidavit, and planning a year that covers every required subject without overbuying.

Tutoring and cyber school support

Reading and math tutoring grounded in the science of reading, plus help for cyber school families who need better routines, more structure, and a plan to keep up.

HOW EVALUATIONS WORK

Three easy steps.

1

Book your spot

Email me or fill out the interest survey. Spring fills up fast, so April is a great time to reach out.

2

Meet with me

In person or virtually, I’ll look through your portfolio and have a relaxed conversation with your child.

3

Get your letter

I’ll write your evaluation letter so you can send it to your superintendent before the June 30 deadline.

QUESTIONS FAMILIES ASK

Frequently asked questions

Who can be a Pennsylvania homeschool evaluator?

A Pennsylvania certified teacher with at least two years of experience at the level they evaluate, a licensed clinical psychologist, a school psychologist, or certain nonpublic school teachers. Parents and their spouses cannot evaluate their own children.

When should I schedule my evaluation?

Spring is best. I’d aim for April or May so you have plenty of time before the June 30 deadline.

Do you do virtual evaluations?

Yes. I evaluate both in person and virtually, so families anywhere in Pennsylvania can work with me.

My child has an IEP. Can you help?

Yes. I’m certified in special education, so I can approve your child’s program before you file your affidavit and complete their evaluation at the end of the year.

Do I have to send my portfolio to the school district?

No. Since 2014, your portfolio stays with you. You only send the evaluator’s letter to your superintendent by June 30.

Where can I learn more about Pennsylvania homeschool law?

Start with the Pennsylvania Department of Education home education page. HSLDA and Homeschooling in Pennsylvania are also helpful.

Ready to book your evaluation?

Email me with your child’s grade and whether you’d like to meet in person or virtually. I’ll get back to you personally.
